G-ON THE ROAD_DASH CAM
Dash cams are useful in many ways out of all the purpose uses, the main use for it is an evidence purpose. There are many false insurance claims such as bumping into a slow-moving car to claim the insurance money and catching moments of accidents that aren’t your fault. These are many of the few reasons why people are installing a dash cam in their cars. However, out of all the reasons, the very essential reason people use dash cam is to protect themselves from any of the accidents that they are involved in by leaving the moments. Furthermore, the caught on-site scenes are a shred of good evidence to submit to the courts. Let’s see how other countries are allowing dashcams for legal purpose.

1. Dash Cams in Europe

Legal countries

Bosnia, Herzegovina, Denmark, Italy, Malta, Netherlands, Serbia, Spain, Sweden, U.K., Russia, Turkey, Czech Republic, Romania, Poland, Ireland, Finland, Slovenia, Belarus, Croatia, Serbia, Bulgaria, Latvia, Georgia, Armania

Most of the countries are quite favorable towards dashcam. In U.K. major insurance companies such as AXA Swiftcover is giving a premium of 15% when a user is with a dash cam and other insurance companies are giving an average of 10% of the premium.

with that said some countries that have been defensive towards accepting dashcams are now reviewing the policy that is favorable to dashcams. In the U.K. parliament is reviewing a policy to enforce dash cam installation on a taxi.

In France and Germany, they are reviewing policy to open up a dash cam market.  In 2019, Germany considered installing a dash cam obligatory. In Europe, 2019, approx. 15 million units have been provided and its growth is average 15% in the last 3 years.

As the trends go, after 3 years, by 2023 it is estimated to over figure the supply of that of Asia. (Unknown, Dashboard Camera Market Size, Share & Trends Analysis Report By Technology (Basic, Advanced, Smart), By Product, By Video Quality, By Application, By Distribution Channel, By Region, and Segment Forecasts, 2020 – 2027. It implies the use of dashcams is now obvious.

Some people are opposed to it and reasons being broad but one reason that they claim is that it is a scam that it isn’t useful. However, the proof of the evidence is now being effective. Insurance companies are starting to applying advantage over none.

According to a U.K. Survey, 30% of people feel secured and made more alert as they are driving with a dash cam on. Even though the rate of getting in an accident is extremely low, a sure feel secured as accidents happen at any time.

2. Dash Cams in Asia

G-ON THE ROAD_Worldwide

Even in Asia, where the concept of dash cam has really started from, well knows the power of installing a dashcam.

In Korea, where the concept has originally started, users have seen the benefits of installing a dashcam.

Not only had it benefited a user but others being a third witness handing over site evidence.

It can be assumed that, as crowded as Seoul, a metropolitan if the majority is equipped with a dash cam there is such a low chance of a case being a blind spot.

Yes, there is always hidden blind spots while driving, dash cam turns off because of impacts or a car user doesn’t have a dash cam but when people around captures the moment it could be a lifesaver for others.

It is so popular that in Korea, a TV show that broadcasts major accidents footages alerting the dangers on the road is one of the most popular TV programs out there. Meanwhile, those footage are making people recognize just how important evidence can be to people.

Japan is renowned as one of the most conservative country and no one will object to it is applying the law to install a dash cam in every Cop vehicle.

There are many topics to tell within Asia regarding dash cam uses. Most Asia countries are encouraged to post videos on the internet because if someone has caught someone is breaking the laws that might lead to fatal accidents. If a user posts it and reports it to the police, if an incident is considered serious then, the police take action.

There are no regulations on installing a dash cam in Asia. However, especially in Korea, it is known that a dash cam is a compulsory accessory to equip one when buying a new car.

The common perception among people is that if someone does not attach one then one thinks they are at loss in life in comparison to others because car accidents happen frequently in Korea.

After all, 80% of the population is living in a city where density is packed in a very limited space. They just feel relieved while driving because they are aware that another eye is always recording every single moment on the road and it is very common that a driver in their lifetime, even a small accident is very likely to happen.

3. Dash Cams in Developed Countries

G-ON THE ROAD DASH CAM SITUATION

In North America where people call a ‘automotive heaven’ is an imposing dash cam obligatory on cop vehicles.

The evidence for cops is crucial as they are on the front line of the warzone when they are in a crime scene every evidence is used as proof that how the situation goes. This usefulness has caught the attention of citizens, now the majority are equipped with a dash cam in their car. The U.S. is one of the dangerous countries in developed nations as in numbers of accidents occur within the country and it is known that a person feels a sense of security while driving with a dash cam attached in their cars.

In the U.K. people are buying a good quality dash cam for their car to give valid evidence to a court. It is all about distinguishing the car plate numbers. If a plate number is unreadable, then the footage is nothing more than junk. People may seek a cheap dash cam that just can barely cover the fundamental functions. However, this may be not so great idea when they encounter accidents where they have to capture the plate number and can’t. For as this being a reason, a person should better seek advice from professionals which dash cam is good for them.

In arbitration between the two on judging who fault is bigger than the other largely depends on the evidence. Before the dash cam has not yet been existed, a third party who have witnessed the situation allegation puts large weights on whose side’s fault is more than the other and it was the best way and most of the laws in countries, accuse most of the faults on the car driver just because they are in a safer position but that doesn’t justify every event occur. Many times people have accepted the fate of a case that isn’t their fault but because they don’t have any evidence to support their objections they had to obey what has come to them. But since security cameras are widely spread and affordable, these unfortunate cases have been significantly reduced. Especially dash cams have covered the times when a driver is driving in an alley, roads where the security camera is not there when accidents occur a one can safely protect themselves from being guilty if one has not done the crime.

Many insurance companies are giving premium on a people who use dashcam. This does mean something. It isn’t just a pure marketing- strategy that an insurance company made deal with a dash cam company to give them a profit. The insurance company has been benefiting from people reporting false claims that the evidence is a form of dash cam footage. Videos can be easily seen on the internet as this much the frequency of being in false accidents are large. In the U.K. most of the insurance companies are giving as equal to 15%. This is a huge amount. It can be assumed that insurance companies are benefitting from the dash cam more than 15% of their loss from not installing.

Many commercial vehicles are exposed to a potential danger because first its size, second long way drive tires drivers that might cause accidents, third a tracker to see how drivers are doing. For these management reasons, many companies are applying dash cam to manage their cars. Some dash cams are even providing special features such as if a driver is sleeping or doing something else dangerous while driving and monitor 24 hours of the inside of the car and get a collected data from an OBD and its vehicles are doing and see live tracking ways where it has been going on the road. This is a good feature for a manager and even governments are reviewing these to be applied.

Overall, many countries are being favorable towards dashcams. A dash cam can be a lifesaver when unexpected accidents occur whether it’s a big one or not. The government around the world is applying dash cam for policy cars to capture vital footages. Many insurance companies are applying a premium towards dash cam users. In Europe, the privacy, proprietary problem hinders dash cam uses. In U.S. and Asia is hugely popular among new generations because it gives them a sense of safety. Many countries are now reviewing dash cam laws whether it should be a must on cars or not. It isn’t a must but the one could benefit themselves by invest quite small amount of money for larger goods in the future.

4. Prevent Hit&Run from Anti-Conscience People

G-ON THE ROAD DASH CAM CAR ACCIDENT

What’s more, there is hardly any hit and run. In the statistics, the rate of accidents reported of hit & run has dramatically decreased due to a dashcam. It refers that they know that even if they are in accidents, a moment is being recorded.

In very small spaces such as the underground parking lot, where spaces between the cars are very narrow, one can scratch the other cars and happens to run except acknowledging the fault. But nowadays, it essentially not doable because a person who caused it can be caught if a damaged car driver reports the license- plate of that car and might involve in serious business in the future.

As for myself, I once have scratched a car in a parking lot and it was just a little scratch but I couldn’t just ignore it had happened. I called the driver and told a person that I’ve scratched a car and the insurance company handled them afterward.

A driver told me that he has just installed a dash cam because in that parking lot cases like this happened so many times that he was annoyed and for the damage he had to repair for himself, that’s why he has installed them.

Yes, dash cams are useful when a big accident happens but it isn’t all about that. Even small accidents can be reported using footage from a dashcam. People who have got something to lose don’t want their life intervened with any of the trifles and it is the reason why dash cam is suitable with expensive cars because it is a huge part of their asset.
